Difference between paper and synthetic labels.

Paper labels are available in:

  • White
  • Fluorescent colours
  • Light tint shades
  • Mid range & strong colours
  • Kraft Natural – brown paper
  • Water resistant labels

Paper labels are suitable for:

  • General – sticking on to envelopes, boxes, containers, bottles, that are dry.
  • Storage – glass jars, plastic bottles, containers etc.
  • Water resistant labels – for use in fridge or freezer, can get wet, short term outdoors.
  • Freezer labels – for sticking on to already frozen products.
  • Dissolvable labels – sturdy paper labels that wash off with water when finished.
  • Tyre stock labels – will stick to rubber surfaces. Not suitable for laser printers!

Paper labels are not suitable for exposure to:

  • Oils
  • Chemicals
  • Long term immersion in water
  • Long term outdoor use

Printer suitability:

  • Laser printers – most paper labels, EXCEPT Tyre Stock.
  • Inkjet printers – White Matt Laser / Inkjet Paper labels. Dissolvable labels

Synthetic Labels:

  • Often referred to as Vinyl or Plastic Labels.
  • Suited to harsher environments.
  • Outside or rugged conditions.
  • Some are weatherproof and often used for labels to stick on cars, etc. with excellent adhesive properties.
  • Well suited to use in industry where a high durability label is required.

Finishes:

  • Matt White
  • Clear
  • Translucent

Printer suitability:

  • Offset
  • Inkjet – Dataflex 303 PE Synthetic Labels only.
  • Laser – most synthetic labels, except those that have not been temperature stabilised.
